Postdoctoral and PhD Researcher Positions : The Makels Lab at the University of Helsinki, Finland, invites applications for postdoctoral and PhD researcher positions in the exciting field of temperature adaptation and super-resolution microscopy. The research aims to unravel the impact of temperature on the cytoplasmic state and subcellular organization in bacteria, with a focus on understanding the consequences for cellular processes. The project employs cutting-edge techniques such as super-resolution fluorescence microscopy and single-molecule tracking to explore the dynamics of individual molecules within bacterial cells.
Designation:
- Postdoctoral Researcher in Genetic Engineering in Bacteria (Position ID: +2665)
- Postdoctoral Researcher in Single Molecule Tracking Data Analysis and/or Mathematical Modeling of Cellular Systems (Position ID: K2662)
- PhD Student in Genetic Engineering, Advanced Fluorescence Microscopy, or Mathematical Modeling of Bacterial Cells (Position ID: n2656)
Research Area: Temperature Adaptation in Bacteria
Location: University of Helsinki, Finland
Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants should have a strong background in biophysics, microbiology, or computational biology. Additionally, candidates should possess experience in advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques and skills in single-molecule fluorescence microscopy data analysis and/or modeling of biological systems. We seek individuals who can think creatively, contribute innovative ideas, and demonstrate a keen interest in quantitative biology.
Job Description:
Postdoctoral and PhD Researcher Positions in Temperature Adaptation and Super-Resolution Microscopy
Successful candidates will work on a diverse range of topics at the interface of physics, chemistry, and biology, including intracellular spatial organization, macromolecular crowding, liquid-liquid phase separation, heat- and cold-shock protein dynamics, and gene regulation. The research involves the use of state-of-the-art microscopy, genetic engineering, proteomics/RNA-sequencing, image analysis, machine learning, and mathematical modeling.
