Job Description
The Postdoctoral Appointee will:
- Optimize and scale up arrested methanogenesis systems (0.5 to 400 L) to convert low-value organic waste streams into high-value products, such as carboxylic acids.
- Support the development and scale-up of advanced bioleaching processes for mineral recovery from secondary materials.
- Design and execute experiments; operate, monitor, and troubleshoot bench- and pilot-scale bioreactors.
- Collect and analyze biological, chemical, and microbial omics data to evaluate process performance and scalability.
- Contribute to process modeling and techno-economic assessments as needed.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prepare technical reports, publish findings, and present results at scientific conferences.
Qualifications and Skills
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, ICP-OES/MS).
- Expertise in microbiological techniques and molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction).
- Experience with bioreactor configuration, PID-based process control, and process modeling (Aspen Plus, SuperPro Designer).
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Ability to work independently and willingness to accommodate non-standard testing schedules.
