Eligibility/Qualification
- Required:
- PhD in a relevant field (microbiology, genomics, etc.)
- Knowledge of virology, particularly giant viruses.
- Preferred:
- Experience with cultures of bacteria, algae, and viruses.
- Proficiency in coding languages (preferably Python or R) and familiarity with bioinformatic workflows.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Work on isolating and conducting genomic analyses of large DNA viruses.
- Cultivate diverse hosts and analyze evolutionary relationships among different viral groups.
- Develop bioinformatic methods for genomic and evolutionary analyses.
- Investigate critical questions concerning the evolution and interaction of viruses with protist hosts in nature.
- Collaborate on existing research projects while having the opportunity to develop their own research initiatives aligned with the lab’s goals.
