Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • PhD in a relevant field (microbiology, genomics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of virology, particularly giant viruses.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with cultures of bacteria, algae, and viruses.
  • Proficiency in coding languages (preferably Python or R) and familiarity with bioinformatic workflows.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Work on isolating and conducting genomic analyses of large DNA viruses.
  • Cultivate diverse hosts and analyze evolutionary relationships among different viral groups.
  • Develop bioinformatic methods for genomic and evolutionary analyses.
  • Investigate critical questions concerning the evolution and interaction of viruses with protist hosts in nature.
  • Collaborate on existing research projects while having the opportunity to develop their own research initiatives aligned with the lab’s goals.
