Postdoctoral Associate at Virginia Tech: The Lee lab at Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, located in Roanoke, VA, is actively seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research in the development of novel biomaterials for cancer immunotherapy. The focus is on modulating innate and adaptive immune responses through drug/gene delivery, innate/adaptive immune agonists, and immune cell engineering via chemical modification.
Designation: Postdoctoral Associate
Research Area: Biomaterials for Cancer Immunotherapy – Development of innate immune agonists, re-education of tumor-homing myeloid cells, and investigating therapeutic mechanisms using transgenic mouse strains.
Location: Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, Roanoke, Virginia.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in chemistry, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field (awarded within the last four years with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining).
- Extensive knowledge of biomaterial engineering, particularly in organic synthesis.
- Experience in cell/tissue culture and in vitro assays.
- Proficiency in animal work, including mouse handling, tumor implantation, and tail-vein injection.
- Ability to generate high-quality results, interpret data, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills for effective presentation to management and project team colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with flow cytometry.
- Experience in establishing a glioblastoma mouse model.
- Experience in mentoring medical students, graduate students, or student interns.
