Postdoctoral Associate at Virginia Tech: Virginia Tech is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to spearhead the development and execution of a metagenomic/genomic analysis pipeline, database, and web interface for plant and animal disease diagnostics. The successful candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to implement computational infrastructure and support a genomics/metagenomics-based pathogen identification service center.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, or related field awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of the appointment with a minimum of one year of eligibility remaining.
- Proficiency in Linux command line, Python, and R language.
- Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and website development.
- Effective communication skills and experience in interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in bioinformatics pipeline development.
- Proficiency in Rust or additional computer languages.
- Experience in metagenome/genome-based pathogen classification and identification.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration.
Job Description: The incumbent will lead the development and implementation of a metagenomic/genomic analysis pipeline, database, and web interface for use in plant and animal disease diagnostics. Responsibilities include leading and coordinating the development, implementation, and maintenance of computational infrastructure for genomics/metagenomics-based pathogen identification. The postdoctoral associate will collaborate closely with faculty and graduate students across disciplines and institutions to implement software for routine use by a genomics/metagenomics-based pathogen identification service center.
