Eligibility/Qualification

  • Ph.D. in applied mathematics, atmospheric or oceanic sciences, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, or a related field by the date of hire.
  • Strong physical, mathematical, and computational background.
  • Experience with decision-making applications or integrated modeling.
  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (preferably Julia) and parallel computing.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to conduct independent research.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented interdisciplinary environment.

Job Description

The Postdoctoral Associate will:

  • Collaborate with climate scientists, mathematicians, economists, and software engineers.
  • Develop, validate, and use flexible model architectures involving Earth system models and fast-running model emulators.
  • Work closely with the MIT Climate Project to demonstrate near-term impacts on climate challenges.
  • Engage in advancing computational techniques and developing model emulators for climate and human systems.
