Postdoctoral Associate: Chemical & Biological Engineering: The Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at the University at Buffalo is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct innovative research in synthesizing and characterizing Na-ion batteries and supercapacitors using carbon electrodes sourced from waste tires. Eligibility/Qualification:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field completed within the last five years, or soon to be completed.
- Experience in battery fabrication and electrochemical device characterization.
- Experience in supercapacitor fabrication and electrochemical device characterization.
- Experienced with advanced materials characterization techniques.
- Strong motivation and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. research focused on battery fabrication with knowledge of supercapacitor fabrication.
- One year of postdoctoral experience in battery fabrication and characterization.
- Experience working with carbon derived from waste tires.
- Good proficiency with electronics and laboratory test instruments.
Job Description:
- Develop novel methodologies for extracting activated carbon from waste tires.
- Fabricate coin cells and perform full electrochemical characterization for Na-ion batteries.
- Design and fabricate high-performance supercapacitors using tire-derived carbon.
- Independently establish all experimental processes and instrumentation necessary for the research.
Salary Range:
$50,000 annually
Work Hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
