Postdoctoral Associate: Chemistry: Stony Brook University’s Department of Chemistry seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to join the dynamic research team led by Dr. Quinton Bruch. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry or a closely related field by May 31st, 2024.
  • Experience in organic, inorganic, or organometallic molecular synthesis, catalysis, or electrosynthesis.
  • Strong background in synthesis and catalysis, preferably in organometallic synthesis/catalysis and/or electrosynthesis and electrocatalysis.
  • Proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety.

Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist Dr. Quinton Bruch in conducting research to develop new approaches to organometallic (electro)catalysis. Responsibilities include synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic and inorganic molecules, optimization of synthetic transformations and catalysis, development of electrochemical reactions, investigation of catalytic mechanisms using spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques, manuscript preparation, lab maintenance, mentoring junior researchers, and upholding laboratory safety standards.
