Postdoctoral Associate in AI & Healthcare: The Department of Eye and Vision Sciences and the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science (LCCS) at the University of Liverpool are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA). This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the TARGET project, focusing on developing AI-powered diagnostic tools for stroke patient management.

Eligibility/Qualification:

Education:

  • PhD (or near completion) in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, or related fields.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and algorithm development, preferably in healthcare applications and biomedical imaging.
  • Expertise in computer vision, image analysis, and managing large datasets.
  • Proven track record of collaborative research with publications in leading international journals.
  • Proficiency in Linux, Pytorch, Tensorflow, and related tools.
  • Background in biostatistics is highly desirable.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong programming skills (Python, C/C++).
  • Knowledge of GitHub and experience with high-performance computing (HPC) facilities.
  • Experience in writing research paper drafts independently and assisting others.

Job Description:

The selected candidate will:

  • Conduct high-standard research on developing, optimizing, and validating AI algorithms for early detection of comorbidity and multimorbidity patterns.
  • Perform data analysis ensuring data validity and reliability.
  • Guide and support PhD/Master’s students involved in the project.
  • Prepare reports, publish papers, and disseminate research at conferences.
  • Attend meetings with the Europe-wide team and stakeholders, collaborating with group members and wider collaborators.
  • Undertake administrative roles, participate in career development activities, and conduct research with integrity and transparency.
