Eligibility/Qualification:
- Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain shortly, a PhD in an appropriate discipline (e.g., Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Genetics).
- Relevant experience in single-cell and genomic bioinformatic analyses is essential; familiarity with cell culture and molecular biology techniques is beneficial.
- A collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to manage research and administrative tasks effectively are required.
Job Description:
The position will involve a multidisciplinary approach to study the unique resistance to inflammatory bowel disease in naked mole rats. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comparative genomics to identify genetic factors that support the unique physiology of naked mole rats.
- Utilizing in vivo models of IBD in both mice and naked mole rats to characterize disease pathogenesis through behavioral, histological, electrophysiological, and transcriptomic analyses.
- Investigating cellular models to unveil the molecular mechanisms underlying the enhanced barrier integrity of the naked mole-rat gastrointestinal tract.
- Developing and conducting experiments, writing research findings for publication, managing personal research activities, supervising students, and assisting with grant applications.
