Eligibility/Qualification

  • Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a relevant subject area (or be close to completion).
  • Experience in synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry, including:
  • Compound optimization for in vivo proof of concept studies
  • De novo drug design/development
  • At least two of the following: asymmetric synthesis, chemical biology, amino acid chemistry, nucleotide chemistry, sugar/amino sugar chemistry
  • Expertise in modern organic synthesis and a strong working knowledge of medicinal chemistry.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Manage their own academic research and administrative activities, including small-scale project management.
  • Coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
  • Test hypotheses and analyze scientific data from various sources.
  • Review and refine working hypotheses as appropriate.

The position is available as soon as possible for a period of up to 2 years under the supervision of Professor Angela Russell.
