Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or a closely related discipline
- Strong publication and/or patent record
- Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry
- Proficient in collecting and interpreting NMR and IR spectroscopic data
- Working knowledge of cyclic voltammetry
- Experience in synthetic polymer chemistry is an asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Synthesize, characterize, and scale up specialty organic molecules with polymerizable groups (e.g., to 100 g)
- Focus on molecules suitable for ring opening reactions
- Apply their expertise to surface applications and learn surface characterization methods such as ToF-SIMS and XPS
- Interact frequently with team members and private sector stakeholders
- Prepare and submit high-quality manuscripts, research reports, and presentations
