The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) at the University of Florida is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate (100% Research) to join the Statistical and Data Analytics Consulting Unit (SDACU). This position supports UF plant breeding programs and the USDA-ARS funded Breeding Insight initiative by delivering open-source analytical tools, statistical modeling, data management workflows, and training to faculty, students, and staff.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A Doctoral degree (foreign equivalent acceptable) in plant breeding/genetics, genomics, applied statistics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming using R and/or Python.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal relations.
  • Core Alignment: Commitment to the mission of the Land-Grant system and UF core values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience with predictive modeling applied to agriculture, natural resources, genomics, and/or phenomics.
  • Experience in developing and delivering statistical workshops and training sessions.
  • Experience consulting on experimental design and complex statistical data analysis.

Job Description & Effort Allocation

  • 40% Effort — Data Analysis & Workflow Execution:Implement and run data analyses for plant breeding programs. Ensure compliance with data security standards while maintaining compatibility with R/Python tools and Shiny applications to support public open-source availability.
  • 20% Effort — Data Management & Storage:Maintain and improve methods for data collection, evaluation, curation, storage, and analysis to optimize data security, accuracy, operational efficiency, and automated summary report generation.
  • 20% Effort — Training & Tool Documentation:Develop and maintain practical analysis procedures and app guides. Train principal investigators (PIs), technicians, and students on breeding software and statistical tools.
  • 10% Effort — Publications & Presentations:Prepare research manuscripts for publication and deliver scientific presentations to stakeholders and academic communities.
  • 10% Effort — Other Duties:Perform other related duties as assigned to support unit operations.
