Postdoctoral Associate – Tewhey Lab: The Tewhey Lab at The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our dynamic team focused on understanding the genetic mechanisms underlying human complex traits and the impact of genetic variation on gene regulatory function.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Ph.D. or M.D. in biology, engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or related fields.
  • Strong publication record as evidence of scientific and research involvement and achievement.
  • For experimental focus: Working knowledge of scientific computing software (e.g., R) and scripting languages (bash/perl/python).
  • For computational focus: Experience in human genetics and handling large genomic datasets is preferred. Prior training in biological sciences is not a prerequisite but candidates must have a strong desire to learn.
  • Passion for advancing human health and solving significant challenges facing humanity.

Job Description

As a Postdoctoral Associate in the Tewhey Lab, you will:

  • Develop and apply high-throughput genetic techniques such as MPRA and CRISPR-based screens.
  • Characterize non-coding regions of the genome and construct computational models to predict the activity of cis-regulatory elements.
  • Contribute to ongoing projects studying genetic variation impacts on cis-regulatory elements using cellular and in vivo models, with a focus on immune, metabolic, and aging-related phenotypes.
  • Work on applying machine learning techniques to model regulatory activity and develop synthetic gene regulatory elements for therapeutic and biomedical applications.
  • Engage in collaborative projects and contribute to a vibrant research community.
