Postdoctoral Associate – xG O-RAN Project: Virginia Tech invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position to conduct cutting-edge research within the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) focusing on the xG Testbed and O-RAN Open Testing Integration Center (OTIC) in the Washington DC Metro Area. Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a communications and networking background. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
  • Hands-on experience with experimental research in wireless communications and with testbeds.
  • Solid background in network softwarization and wireless communication.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
  • A track record of publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with computer network technologies.
  • Experience with 5G and Beyond 5G technology.

Job Description

The successful candidate will engage in large-scale experimentation utilizing open-source tools (e.g., srsRAN) and open standards (e.g., O-RAN) to propel open-architecture technologies. Responsibilities include the development of innovative xG network architectures, conducting experiments in collaboration with academic, commercial, and government researchers, and participating in testing and evaluation, prototyping, and enhancements of O-RAN solutions.
