Postdoctoral Bioinformatician (Research Officer): The Baker Institute is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Bioinformatician to join our Systems Medicine and Bioinformatics laboratory. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work with population-scale biobanks and multi-omics datasets to advance the understanding of cardiovascular disease.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Strong command of programming languages common to bioinformatics (e.g., R).
  • Understanding of core statistical methodologies (e.g., linear/logistic regression, multiple imputation, survival analysis).
  • Experience with biobank-scale or large cohort datasets and omics datasets.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing, cluster, and Unix environments.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular or metabolic diseases is beneficial but not essential.
  • Appropriate Australian working rights required.

Job Description

As a Bioinformatician, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Processing, cleaning, and managing large-scale datasets.
  • Conducting statistical analysis for association and predictive modeling.
  • Assisting in the development of multi-omics workflows and pipelines.
  • Generating clear, high-quality figures, summaries, and reports for manuscripts and presentations.
  • Contributing to manuscript and grant writing.
  • Staying updated with relevant statistical and bioinformatics techniques.
  • Collaborating with lab members on shared datasets and projects.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to lab discussions.
