The Thomas Lab explores novel mechanisms of epigenetic gene regulation through a combination of biochemistry, cell biology, and genomics approaches, with a particular focus on the role of the free radical signaling molecule nitric oxide (NO) in influencing mRNA, histone, and DNA methylation.

Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
- Prior research lab experience
- Ability to independently design and analyze research projects, with excellent manuscript/grant writing and communication skills
- Protein and DNA/RNA handling experience
- Genome editing skills
- Preferred: Experience with bioinformatics, genome editing, high-throughput sequencing, HPLC-MS, mass spectrometry, and proteomics
Job Description
- Conduct cell culture studies, cell-free kinetic and structural studies
- Perform DNA/mRNA sequencing
- Mentor graduate students
- Participate in manuscript and grant writing/editing
- Maintain records of experiments
- Present research findings at scientific meetings
- Participate in weekly lab meetings, journal clubs, and departmental seminars
