POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – AMII & MELCO: The Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the research project “Machine Malfunction Prediction and Machine Adaptation using Machine Learning”. This project investigates effective means to automatically predict machine failures and strategies to adapt a malfunctioning machine to continue its mission before maintenance can be performed.

Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD degree in Computer Science or related field
- Trained in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and robotics
- Strong programming skills in Java, C/C++, and/or Python
- Experience with software development and system implementation
Job Description
- Conduct problem-solving research and model development under the supervision of the principal researcher
- Assist in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students involved in the project
- Oversee the required periodic reports to industrial partners and funders
- Prepare documentation of research activities, analyze and document research findings for publication
- Stay updated on the state-of-the-art methods by reviewing research papers
