Postdoctoral Fellow at Ghent University: Join Ghent University’s Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, as a Postdoctoral Fellow to innovate in printed opto-electronics using colloidal semiconductor quantum dots. This research position offers an opportunity to develop advanced ultrafast infrared optical spectroscopy tools and become a key player in our spectroscopy team.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Physical Chemistry, or a similar field, awarded before October 1st, 2024.
  • Strong background in pulsed laser spectroscopy.
  • Experience with time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy, preferably in the infrared spectrum.
  • Knowhow of non-linear optics and pulsed lasers.
  • Experience with multi-dimensional spectroscopy is a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming (Python or similar).
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility.

Job Description
The successful candidate will:

  • Develop ultrafast infrared optical spectroscopy tools to study electronic and vibrational dynamics in nanostructured materials.
  • Enhance the current ultrafast spectroscopy lab by generating continuum infrared light through filamentation and implementing 1D and 2D infrared spectroscopy methods.
  • Test and apply the advanced setup on new exploratory materials.
  • Lead spectroscopic efforts and contribute to the Core Facility for advanced laser spectroscopy, NOLIMITS.
  • Collaborate with a team of spectroscopists, chemists, and engineers.
  • Mentor students and develop personal research ideas.
