Postdoctoral Fellow at University of British Columbia: The University of British Columbia, in collaboration with the Hakai Institute, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Sentinels of Change project, focusing on symbiosis in the Salish Sea. This position involves understanding the diversity of parasites in marine invertebrates and their impact on ecosystem health.

Research Area: Symbiosis, marine invertebrates, parasite diversity, environmental change, genomics, molecular biology.
Location: Vancouver, University of British Columbia (UBC) campus, with travel within the Salish Sea Region for experimental work.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in microbial eukaryotic diversity, molecular biology, and genomics.
- Training in advanced light microscopy and field collecting of marine microbial eukaryotes.
- Ideally, experience in single-cell genomics methodology and advanced bioinformatic analyses.
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Fellow will:
- Establish parasite-diversity baselines in target sampling areas.
- Profile parasites of key invertebrates using high-throughput metabarcoding.
- Design molecular monitoring tools for parasites and use single-cell sequencing to understand the functional interplay between parasite and host.
- Collaborate with the Sentinels team to establish sampling protocols and participate in fieldwork at Hakai.
- Generate molecular data, analyze results, and report to the scientific community.
