Postdoctoral Fellow: Cancer Metastasis, Moffitt Cancer Center, USA

Postdoctoral Position in USA

Postdoctoral Fellow: Cancer Metastasis: The Mann lab is dedicated to uncovering novel mechanisms driving pancreatic cancer (PDAC) progression and relapse. Alternative splicing is a process critical to cancer development and mechanisms deregulating splicing during disease progression is an exciting and emerging new area of study in PDAC biology. We recently showed that downregulation of the RNA binding protein RBFOX2 promotes PDAC metastasis through alternative splicing that enhances cytoskeletal remodeling programs promoting cell migration and invasion (Maurin et al., Nature Communications 2023). We are currently dissecting the mechanisms by which RBFOX2-mediated splicing events enhance the oncogenic function of proteins to promote PDAC progression. We are looking for a post-doctoral fellow excited by inter-disciplinary science to join our team and contribute to our goal of identifying splicing regulators and specific splicing events in PDAC progression and relapse disease that may be explored for diagnostic or therapeutic efficacy to better treat cancer patients. Postdoctoral Research Fellow: Alternative Splicing in Pancreatic Cancer Metastasis

Position Highlight:
This position requires molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, proteomics and in vivo modeling approaches to dissect the functions of spliced isoforms of key molecules that modulate cellular processes and signaling pathways driving pancreatic cancer development and metastasis. This individual will work both independently and collaboratively and will be part of a team that consists of basic researchers, clinicians, and computational biologists.

The Ideal Candidate:

Has a strong foundation in molecular biology and cancer biology
Is experienced in mammalian cell culture, including 2D and 3D cultures and proficiency in executing phenotypic assays (migration, invasion, colony formation, etc.)
A background in alternative splicing and/or pancreatic cancer is highly desired
Mouse genetics experience and familiarity with NGS is desired but not essential

Responsibilities:

Learn research techniques that directly relate to the program’s scientific projects and goals with appropriate direction and supervision.
Plan, conduct and document experiments independently; evaluate and interpret data with guidance.
Develop scientific writing and presentation skills, including grant proposals, manuscript preparation, and formal seminars presented to the Moffitt scientific community and at national scientific meetings.

Credentials and Qualifications:

PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline earned within the last two years.

Location: Tampa, FL

Eligibility/Qualification:
A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate. Interested applicants should send a single PDF file that includes a current CV with recent publications, a personal statement of scientific interests and goals (2-page maximum), and contact information for three references to Dr. Karen Mann at Karen.Mann@moffitt.org.
