Eligibility/Qualification

  • Degree Required: Ph.D. or M.D. (or equivalent) in molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Required Skills:
    • Laboratory experience in genetics/genomics, bioinformatic analysis, tissue culture, and molecular biological techniques (e.g., cloning, western blot, qPCR, protein expression/purification).
    • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with R or another coding language.

Job Description

The Postdoctoral position, starting mid-to-late summer, is part of our effort to develop novel therapeutic strategies and primary model systems for aggressive endocrine cancers, including gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). The role involves:

  • Research Focus: Protein signaling, cancer cell genome modification, single-cell cancer genomics, cell and molecular assays, and preclinical drug development.
  • Model Development: Creating new models from patient tissues, including cell lines, organoids, and patient-derived xenografts.
  • Therapeutic Development: Exploring therapies by modifying SSTR2 expression using epigenetic treatments and conducting functional genomic CRISPR screens.
  • Techniques and Projects: Engaging in cell line therapeutic sensitivity screening, bioinformatic single-cell “multiomic” analyses, and genetic modeling of primary tumors.
  • Training and Collaboration: Collaborating with intramural and extramural colleagues, participating in formal training courses, and engaging in journal clubs.
