Postdoctoral Fellow – Cellular Metabolism: Join our dynamic and collaborative team at the Aird Lab, where we are dedicated to advancing the understanding of cellular metabolism, epigenetics, and senescence in cancer. We are actively seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to our interdisciplinary research focused on the influence of metabolism on cancer progression and treatment resistance.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Cellular Metabolism and Cancer
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Research Area: Cellular Metabolism, Epigenetics, Senescence in Cancer
Location: Aird Lab, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Recent recipients of a PhD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) degree, or close to obtaining a doctoral degree
- Proficiency in standard molecular and cellular biology techniques
- Prior experience in cancer research is not required
Job Description:
The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research projects that align with the major themes of the lab, including:
- Bidirectional control of metabolism and the cell cycle, focusing on non-canonical roles of tumor suppressors and oncogenes in metabolism and associated cell fate decisions.
- Exploration of intra- and extracellular metabolism’s influence on therapeutic resistance in cancer, with a specific emphasis on ovarian cancer and melanoma.
- Investigation of the mechanisms of senescence and the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), and their impact on the tumor microenvironment, immunological reprogramming, and therapeutic response.
The postdoc will have opportunities for collaboration and co-mentorship with leading experts in related fields. The position offers a stimulating and supportive environment for scientific and professional development, as well as competitive compensation aligned with the NIH scale and comprehensive benefits.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should submit the following documents to Katherine Aird, PhD at kaa140@pitt.edu:
