Eligibility/Qualification

  • Education: PhD in engineering or data science fields (obtained within the past three years or nearing completion within six months of appointment).
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience in mechanical analysis and design of composite structures, including the use of finite element modeling and simulation tools.
  • Direct hands-on experience in advanced composite manufacturing, particularly automated fibre placement (AFP).
  • Proficiency in data science techniques, large dataset handling, and Python-based programming.

Job Description

The selected candidate will carry out research on the project “Bridging the Gap: Evolving Data-Driven Digital Twins for Automated Composite Processing.” The goal is to develop methodologies to characterize the evolution of microstructural morphology during the curing cycle of composite structures and its impact on performance. Responsibilities include:

  • Leveraging in-process imaging data for insights into laminate microstructure.
  • Developing predictive capabilities for quantifying the impact of process-related irregularities.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and managing multiple projects effectively.
