Postdoctoral Fellow (F/M): The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France, is seeking a dynamic Postdoctoral Fellow (F/M) to join the Structure of Materials group, specifically working on the Materials Science beamline ID11. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in materials science, utilizing high-energy X-ray diffraction and imaging methods. The successful candidate will have the chance to develop their own research project, leveraging the exceptional capabilities of the ID11 beamline.

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow

Research Area: Materials Science, X-ray Diffraction, Imaging, Structural Materials, Micromechanics, Phase Transformations

Location: Grenoble, France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline obtained in the last 3 years.
  • Previous research experience with high-energy X-ray diffraction and/or imaging.
  • Experience with instrumentation and sample environments would be an asset.
  • Ability to interact with multi-disciplinary staff and facility users in English (working language at the ESRF).

Job Description: The Postdoctoral Fellow will:

  1. Work on the Materials Science beamline ID11, utilizing high-energy X-ray diffraction and imaging methods.
  2. Develop and contribute to research projects in structural materials, micromechanics, and phase transformations.
  3. Take on the role of a local contact to provide excellent support for the scientific community using the ESRF facilities.
  4. Collaborate with global experts and contribute to the advancement of science in diverse fields.
  5. Have the opportunity to develop and lead their own research project.

Working Conditions:

  • Contract of 18 months, renewable for a further 6 or 18-month period.
