POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN AEROMICROBIOLOGY: The Fowler lab at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in Environmental Microbiology. The project focuses on the metabolic potential and activity of the aeromicrobiome, specifically examining methanotrophs’ ability to biotransform methane and other compounds under atmospheric conditions. The proposed start date is February 2024, and applications will be reviewed starting January 15, 2024. |

Job Description: |
The postdoctoral fellow will work on an interdisciplinary project examining the metabolism of microbes in the atmosphere, with a focus on methanotrophs. The project involves fieldwork, metagenomics, microbial cultivation, and physiological characterization. Collaboration with the Borduas-Dedekind lab at the University of British Columbia is integral to the project. The role includes budget provisions for knowledge dissemination and conference travel, with mentorship for extended appointments through additional funding applications. |
