Summary:
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to engage in biomedical studies that apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods with the aim of improving clinical cancer care. This opportunity is designed to integrate high-dimensional clinical data with therapeutics to generate ‘patient similars’ or ‘digital twins’ and to evaluate novel therapeutics in clinical trials. The position will be mentored by Dr. Peter Nelson and Dr. Jeff Leek, alongside their research teams.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with Python, R, and related tools (e.g., R packages, RMarkdown)
  • Experience with version control (GitHub)
  • Strong background in statistics and machine learning
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience with computational methods to analyze large-scale biomedical data is preferred
  • Interest in data science or informatics education is an advantage

Job Description:
As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will:

  • Develop statistical models using biomedical data relating to cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Create R packages or Shiny Apps for the implementation of developed methodology.
  • Apply AI and machine learning tools (Python, R, etc.) to test and evaluate biomedical hypotheses.
  • Develop benchmarks and evaluate algorithms with the staff.
  • Contribute to writing academic papers and reviews of relevant literature.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, industry partners, and translational researchers.

Salary:

  • Annual base salary range: $80,172 to $95,014 (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Relocation assistance may be available
