Research Area & Project Overview

The research is centered on developing theoretical models to describe the atomic and electronic structure of novel altermagnetic materials as characterized by experimental techniques such as photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS, ARPES) and scanning probe microscopy (STM).

Job Description & Responsibilities

As a Postdoctoral Fellow at PSI, your primary tasks will include:

  • Developing theoretical models describing the atomic and electronic structure of altermagnetic materials probed by XPS, ARPES, and STM.
  • Maintaining and developing modern computational tools in close collaboration with the group.
  • Collaborating actively with experimental and theoretical research partners.
  • Assisting team members in conducting experiments at the Swiss Light Source (SLS) and other international light source facilities.
  • Presenting scientific results at international conferences and publishing findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Education: Ph.D. degree in Physics or a closely related discipline.
  • Expertise: Strong background in theoretical modeling of condensed matter systems and their surfaces.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient computing skills, including programming expertise and hands-on experience with high-performance computing (HPC).
  • Track Record: Proven history of successful first-author scientific publications.
  • Language: Fluency in spoken and written English.
