Postdoctoral Fellow in Host-Microbiome Interactions: The University of Oslo is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position focused on host-microbiome interactions in human liver diseases. Research Area:

The research will focus on the interactions between the gut microbiome and liver health, particularly in the context of inflammatory bowel disease and chronic liver conditions.

Location:

Research Institute of Internal Medicine, Institute of Clinical Medicine, Oslo, Norway.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Applicants must hold a relevant PhD.
  • Experience in designing, interpreting original in vitro and in vivo experiments.
  • Formal training and significant experience with animal experiments.
  • Laboratory animal training according to 2010/63/EU requirements is an advantage.
  • Experience in molecular biology, preferably within microbiology or immunology.
  • Proficient in English; knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is required (or must commit to learn).

Job Description:

The successful candidate will:

  • Engage in challenging projects under the ERC Consolidator Grant “FatVersusBile.”
  • Utilize in vivo gnotobiotic models to explore microbial contributions to chronic liver diseases.
  • Conduct both in vivo and in vitro experiments, including the use of organoid systems.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary research group aimed at developing innovative treatment strategies.
  • Organize and manage animal experiments and laboratory work with microbiology, flow cytometry, and cell cultures.
  • Form a career development plan in collaboration with the institute.
