- Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Biology, Microbial Ecology, Biological Oceanography, or related field
- Strong background in aquatic microbial ecology and bioinformatics
- Proficiency in bioinformatic analysis of microbial populations
- Experience in observational and experimental field work
- Strong computational skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Valid driver’s license for travel to research locations
- Job Description:
- Conduct sampling in Long Island Sound independently or as part of a team
- Collaborate in the design and execution of experiments involving field samples, incubations, and basic molecular biology
- Lead bioinformatic analyses of shotgun metagenomes
- Collect and maintain records of raw and processed data, lab protocols, and computational scripts
- Present results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications
- Co-mentor undergraduate and graduate students
- Oversee students and general laboratory maintenance
- Other related duties as assigned
