Postdoctoral Fellow in TEM, Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at USA, Ozbolat Laboratory at Penn State

Postdoctoral Fellow in TEM: The Department of Chemistry at Stockholm University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work on advanced transmission electron microscopy techniques for studying plant-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). This position is part of the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE) program.

Designation

Postdoctoral Fellow – Transmission Electron Microscopy

Research Area

Materials Chemistry, Electron Microscopy, Nanoporous Materials, Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs)

Location

Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
  • The degree must have been completed no later than three years before the closing date; exceptions may apply under special circumstances.
  • Prior experience in structural characterization, transmission electron microscopy, crystallography, and nanoporous materials is preferred.
  • Familiarity with aberration-corrected (S)TEM, 3D electron diffraction, and MOFs is beneficial.
  • Advanced techniques in (S)TEM like 4D STEM, integrated differential phase contrast (iDPC), cryo-EM, and/or ptychography are advantageous.
  • Experience in scientific programming and knowledge of electron beam-sensitive specimens is an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for international collaboration.

Job Description

The Postdoctoral Fellow will engage in exploring the structures of bio-based MOF adsorbents using advanced techniques in transmission electron microscopy, specifically phase-contrast STEM and 3D electron diffraction. The role includes:

  • Developing protocols for structural investigations of MOF adsorbents at the atomic scale, focusing on defects, disorders, and guest species.
  • Utilizing and developing methods for electron microscopy data acquisition and analysis.
  • Contributing to MOF synthesis as needed.

The position offers a full-time employment opportunity for a minimum of two years, extendable under special circumstances.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should apply through Stockholm University’s recruitment system. Applicants must include a personal letter, CV, and any additional requested attachments in the application form.
