Postdoctoral Fellow in the DFF Project: The Centre for Border Region Studies (CBRS), Department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark, Sønderborg, is seeking to appoint a dedicated and qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Independent Danish Research Foundation funded project, “Coloring Borders Green.” This exciting opportunity entails field research in the Danish-German border region, particularly in Sønderborg and Flensburg. The project aims to explore the impact of bordering practices on the green transition and seeks to advance our understanding of their role in its implementation. The successful applicant will play a key role in data collection, analysis, academic publications, and public outreach.

Location: Centre for Border Region Studies, University of Southern Denmark, Sønderborg

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Ph.D. in Border Studies (or related field) awarded by the time of appointment.
  • Expertise in the relationship between borders and the Green Transition is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the languages relevant to the regional contexts (Danish and German).
  • Strong research profile aligned with the CBRS strategy, demonstrating the potential for international scholarly impact.
  • Evidence of an emerging publication record at an internationally recognized level.
  • Experience in public outreach, communication, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Independent thinker and team player.

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Fellow in the DFF Project “Coloring Borders Green”

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • Conduct and contribute to data collection for the “Coloring Borders Green” research project, emphasizing the significance of bordering practices across various societal contexts.
  • Analyze research results and disseminate conclusions through academic publications, peer-reviewed journals, an edited volume, and a special issue on borders in the green transition.
  • Participate in project meetings and present papers at conferences.
  • Organize events and activities within the project.
  • Engage in knowledge exchange activities with the broader society and provide research management, including mentoring of PhD students.
  • Participate in the intellectual life at the University of Southern Denmark and the Centre for Border Region Studies.
