Postdoctoral Fellow in Tomatillo Evolution: The University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to lead a research project aimed at estimating the phylogeny for the tomatillo clade (approximately 310 species) and investigating the evolution of inflated calyces and biochemical defenses. This position includes significant fieldwork, analytical methodologies, and teaching opportunities.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in Biology, Botany, Biochemistry, Plant Science, or a related field.

Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesRequirements
Assisting in the management of living collections for researchExperience in systematics, phylogenomics, and/or metabolomics
Participating in fieldwork to obtain additional materialProficiency with statistical comparative methods in R
Preparing DNA and metabolite extracts for analysisKnowledge of bioinformatic pipelines
Collaborating with team members on data analysisExperience with international collaborative teams
Mentoring undergraduate researchers and engaging in outreach
Communicating research findings through presentations and publications
