Postdoctoral Fellow – Karim Lab: The University of Southern Mississippi is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled postdoctoral fellow to join the Karim Lab. This position focuses on studying Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS), a tick bite-induced meat allergy of growing public health significance.

Research Area:
The primary research area involves investigating the role of tick saliva components in triggering Alpha-Gal Syndrome using functional genomics tools.

Location:
Hattiesburg, Mississippi, United States

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. or DVM/PhD
  • Experience in working with ticks and animal models
  • Strong background in entomology, computational biology, molecular biology, and immunology

Job Description:

  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) and research team to design and execute experiments.
  • Conduct experiments using molecular tools to study meat allergy linked to tick bites.
  • Maintain tick colonies and ensure detailed laboratory notebooks and data records are kept.
  • Prepare manuscripts, grants, and abstracts for publication and presentations.
  • Engage in writing and editing drafts for research publications and grant proposals.
  • Present research findings at scientific conferences.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the PI.
