Postdoctoral Fellow (Multiple Openings): Join the HJF Team at the Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) located at the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program. Multiple Postdoctoral Fellow positions are available to support Cancer Moonshot funded research projects. The research areas include circadian disruption, immunological alterations, and metabolic rewiring in response to environmental exposures in prostate cancer patients. The successful candidates will work on groundbreaking projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary research team.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, genetics, cell and molecular biology, immunology, or molecular epidemiology.
  • Knowledge of in vitro cell culture models, genetic modifications, DNA damage repair, immunoassays, and multi-omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics).
  • Expertise in bioinformatics analysis (R or Python), spatial tissue profiling, and single-cell genomic sequencing (desirable).
  • 0-5 years of experience.

Job Description:

  • Conduct groundbreaking research projects in collaboration with a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Investigate circadian dysfunction’s impact on prostate cancer.
  • Define signatures of exposure to environmental carcinogens altering genomic, proteomic, and metabolic landscapes.
  • Characterize immunologic status and lymphocyte repertoire in prostate cancer development and environmental exposures.
  • Develop scientific presentation and writing skills.
  • Contribute to leadership skills in collaborative research, fellowship submissions, and paper presentations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, execute, and implement scientific research.
  • Investigate applying scientific principles to potential inventions and products.
  • Perform laboratory research using specialized procedures.
  • Collect and handle samples, maintain detailed experiment records.
  • Prepare data for presentations and publication.
  • Perform duties assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze data and interpret results.
  • Relevant knowledge of molecular and cellular biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, epigenetics, and immunology.
  • Skillsets include cell culture models, molecular assays, and in vivo models.
  • Experience or willingness to learn basic bioinformatic analyses.

Physical Capabilities:

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree.
  • 0-5 years of experience.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily in a laboratory setting.
