Postdoctoral Fellow- Pulsed Lasers: The DualTech Ultrashort and Short Pulsed Lasers (USPL) research group is seeking talented researchers for three fixed-term full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions in the design and development of USPL laser sources for dual-use applications. This position is integral to advancing Australia’s sovereign scientific and industrial capabilities.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Level A:
  • PhD in Plasma Physics, High Energy Density Physics, Laser Physics, or Laser Engineering.
  • Level B:
  • PhD in Plasma Physics, High Energy Density Physics, Laser Physics, or Laser Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-energy laser interaction with matter or high-power laser engineering.

Key Skills Required:

  • Knowledge about diagnostics and delivery of high-intensity/high-energy laser radiation.
  • Advanced analytical research skills.
  • Ability to conduct high-quality academic research independently.
  • Exemplary personal qualities aligned with institutional values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence, and discovery.

Job Description:
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will:

  • Plan, prepare, and implement groundbreaking experiments in high-energy laser matter interaction.
  • Utilize numerical and theoretical simulations to support high-power laser studies.
  • Lead the development and operation of laser diagnostics in state-of-the-art laboratory spaces.
  • Guide postgraduate and master’s students while showcasing expertise at conferences and workshops.
  • Build a personal research portfolio and pursue independent proposals.
