Postdoctoral Fellow — Regulation of Immunity: The Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms-University Bonn, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research on metabolic regulation of the immune system. The project aims to investigate how metabolites from the host, diet, or microbiome shape the biology and metabolism of tissue-resident immune cells, such as T cells and innate lymphoid cells (ILCs), in health and disease.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. degree (or graduate students expecting to receive the degree within six months)
  • Background in immunology, tissue biology, or cellular metabolism
  • Experience with:
    • Animal models and tissue isolations (lung, intestine)
    • Human tissue samples
    • Multi-parameter flow cytometry
    • Molecular biology techniques
    • Fluorescence imaging

Job Description:

The selected candidate will:

  • Investigate how diets (e.g., high-fat diets, ketogenic diets), dietary components, exercise, and metabolites modulate immune responses in obesity, chronic inflammation, and infections
  • Work closely with clinicians to translate research findings into human patient studies
  • Have the opportunity to obtain external funding and develop an independent research program
  • Work in an interdisciplinary research environment that fosters innovation and collaboration
