Summary

The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Fellow/Scientist I to join the Laboratory of Synthetic Spatial Omics. This role involves driving the development and application of next-generation spatiotemporal omics technologies to resolve immune cell state dynamics and organization, with the ultimate goal of designing better cell therapeutic approaches. The successful candidate will integrate advanced imaging-based multi-omics with sequencing-based approaches and systems-level analysis within a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.

Eligibility/Qualification

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: PhD in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Systems Biology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience: 2 – 4 years of experience post-PhD (for Scientist I designation) in single-cell technologies, including imaging-based and/or sequencing-based omics.
  • Track Record: Strong track record of developing novel experimental technologies.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience with molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, nucleic acid workflows, and cellular functional assays.
    • Experience developing novel imaging-based technologies.
    • Experience with advanced microscopy, instrumentation, or imaging-based transcriptomics/genomics (preferred).
    • Experience with synthetic biology, protein design, or engineered cell systems (preferred).
  • Research Background: Research background in immunology or immune engineering (preferred).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to independently design rigorous experiments, troubleshoot complex workflows, and drive projects to completion.
    • Collaborative mindset and strong scientific communication skills.

Job Description

The selected candidate will be an integral part of the Laboratory of Synthetic Spatial Omics, advancing our understanding of engineered immune cell function in their native microenvironment. Key responsibilities include:

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop next-generation imaging-based technologies to measure molecular organization and cell state dynamics.
  • Apply these technologies to profile immune cell states, disease states, and their spatial context.
  • Analyze high-dimensional imaging and sequencing datasets using computational approaches to identify organizational and regulatory principles.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers across genomics, synthetic biology, immunology, machine learning, and related disciplines.
  • Contribute to preprints, publications, presentations, and open science practices.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay Range (New York City, NY):
    • Postdoctoral Fellow = $93,000.00
    • Scientist I = $120,000 – $150,000
  • Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience.
  • Eligible to participate in a discretionary annual performance bonus program.
