Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at USA, Ozbolat Laboratory at Penn State

Postdoctoral Fellow/Technologist: The Ahern Group at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, located in the Department of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Sciences and the Center for Microbiome and Human Health, is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow or technologist. The position aims to support research efforts in understanding the interplay between the intestinal immune system and gut microbiota in oral vaccine responses, with a focus on oral cholera vaccines.

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow/Technologist

Research Area: Microbiota and Oral Vaccine Responses

Location: Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed or close to completing a Ph.D. degree (or significant research experience).
  • Interest in microbiota research, particularly at the interface of microbiology and immunology.
  • Essential experience in cellular immunology (cell isolation, phenotyping, adoptive transfers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with basic microbiological techniques is desirable, but not required (training provided).

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Fellow/Technologist in Microbiota and Oral Vaccine Responses

The candidate will contribute to ongoing efforts in defining how gut microbiota-immune interactions shape the response to oral vaccination, specifically oral cholera vaccines. Utilizing advanced microbiological and immunological techniques in gnotobiotic mouse models, the candidate will provide insights into specific microbiota members impacting vaccine efficacy. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, willing to drive independent research within a collaborative environment.

The research environment offers a stimulating and collaborative atmosphere, committed to the training and development of its trainees. A competitive benefits and salary package is available. The candidate will join a dynamic research department and a microbiota-focused research center, exploring a variety of topics related to cellular and molecular pathways that mediate disease.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit a cover letter (1 page maximum) outlining their research interests, along with a CV and contact information for 3 references to Dr. Philip Ahern at ahernp@ccf.org.
