Job Description:

Postdoctoral Fellow – Earth-Abundant Transition Metal Photocatalysis

  • Lead a research project focusing on Earth-abundant metal photocatalysis.
  • Develop new synthetic methodologies using inexpensive and non-toxic first-row metal complexes.
  • Work within the Early Chemical Development (ECD) Department, Pharmaceutical Sciences, collaborating with a team of experienced synthetic chemists.
  • Collaborate with academic supervisor Fabio Juliá from the University of Murcia, Spain, an expert in photochemistry.
  • Explore sustainable and green chemical processes for synthesizing active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Qualification, Skills & Experience:

  • PhD or equivalent in Synthetic Organic Chemistry.
  • Within 5 years of obtaining a doctoral degree (PhD, DVM, or MD), or soon-to-be PhD graduates (PhD must be awarded within 6 months of joining AstraZeneca).
  • Scientifically critical and curious with the ability to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary research environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in visible light catalysis and a track record of publishing in high impact journals is desirable.
