Postdoctoral Fellow – Highly Entrepreneurial Research Operator (HERO)
Research Area:
Transdisciplinary research in Ocean Carbon Dioxide Removal (mCDR) focusing on marine food-web modelling and ecosystem impacts. This includes exploring the risks and co-benefits of ocean alkalinity enhancement, iron fertilization, and other mCDR methods.
Location:
Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The position offers opportunities for international collaboration and exchange.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Fisheries Science/Ecology, Statistics, Mathematics, Marine Ecology/Biology, Oceanography, or a related discipline.
- Strong quantitative skills in biogeochemical, ecosystem, and/or statistical modelling.
- Excellent writing and communication abilities.
Job Description:
The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to the CONVERGE CDR program by:
- Adapting regional food-web models for mCDR exploratory scenarios.
- Designing simulations to assess the ecological impacts and co-benefits of mCDR methods.
- Identifying critical knowledge gaps in ecosystem impacts and guiding future research.
- Engaging with a cohort of interdisciplinary researchers to ensure the translation of discoveries into policy, community engagement, and economic solutions.
The position offers a unique entrepreneurial environment to develop leadership, secure additional funding, and form partnerships across various sectors (industry, community, government).
