The Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST) invites applications for the MCQST Postdoc Fellowship (Junior Researcher START Fellowship). Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Education: Open to early-career researchers who hold, or expect to obtain before the start of the fellowship, a PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, engineering, or a related field.
  • Fit: Research background aligned with the MCQST Research Program.
  • Target Group: Open worldwide, with a strong focus on attracting outstanding international researchers who are not currently part of the MCQST community.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent, cutting-edge research in quantum science and technology.
  • Integrate into a host group under the mentorship of an MCQST Principal Investigator.
  • Deepen scientific expertise and actively build interdisciplinary collaborations across participating partner institutions.
  • Prepare high-impact scientific publications and present research findings at international conferences and seminars.

How to Apply

Candidates apply independently of a specific research group and can indicate 3 to 5 potential MCQST PIs they are interested in joining.

  1. Prepare Application Documents:
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Maximum 2 pages (no photo).
    • Research Statement: Maximum 2 pages outlining proposed research and objectives.
    • List of Publications and Talks: Highlighting the 3 publications that best represent your research profile.
    • Certificates: Doctoral degree certificate (or expected completion documentation) and further degree certificates.
    • Optional supporting documents.
  2. Letters of Recommendation:
    • Two letters of recommendation from external experts (outside MCQST) must be submitted directly by referees via the application portal.
  3. Submission:
