Postdoctoral Fellowship Stipend: The Department of Molecular Biology at Umeå University is offering a postdoctoral fellowship stipend for two years in the field of evolutionary biology and microbiology. The research focuses on predicting evolutionary processes, specifically the evolution of multidrug resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The successful candidate will work on experimental evolution, genome sequencing, genetic engineering, and data analysis. The fellowship is funded by the Kempe foundations and provides a salary of 336,000 SEK per year.
Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow
Research Area: Biological Sciences
Location: Umeå University, Umeå, Västerbotten, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification: PhD or equivalent in evolutionary biology, microbiology, molecular biology, or related research areas. Candidates who have completed their doctoral degree within the last three years are preferred. Proficiency in English is required.
Job Description:
Postdoctoral Fellowship Stipend (Two Years) in Forecasting Experimental Evolution of Antibiotic Resistance
The postdoctoral fellow will join the Lind lab at the Department of Molecular Biology. The primary focus of the research is to investigate the predictability of evolutionary processes, particularly the evolution of multidrug resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The fellow will conduct parallel experimental evolution, genome sequencing, genetic engineering, and phenotypic and fitness assays. The position involves a combination of laboratory work, theoretical modeling, bioinformatics analysis, and data interpretation. The fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to the direction of the research and develop an independent line of research.
How to Apply: Interested applicants should submit the following documents in PDF format via email to peter.lind@umu.se with the subject line “Kempe Postdoc 2023 + [Your Name]”:
- Cover letter describing qualifications, research interests, and motivation for the position.
- Curriculum vitae (CV) including education, work experience, and a list of publications.
- List of publications with a brief description of your contribution to the most important articles.
- Verified copies of PhD certificate or expected PhD defense date.
- Names and email addresses of at least two academic references.
Last Date for Apply: The application deadline is August 9, 2023, at 23:59 (Europe/Stockholm) or until the positions are filled.
