Postdoctoral Research Position in Advanced Optical Microscope Development
Designation: Research Associate in Advanced Optical Microscope Development
Research Area: Development of advanced single photon counting avalanche diode (SPAD) detector arrays for fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy, with a focus on investigating metabolism using a range of microscopy methods.
Location: Ameer-Beg Lab, Guy’s Campus, King’s College London
Eligibility/Qualification:
- BSc in Physics, Engineering, or related subject
- Ph.D. in Optics, Physics, Engineering, or related subject (either completed or submitted)
- Highly skilled in both optical and mechanical design
- Extensive experience in the construction and use of bespoke optical microscopy platforms
- Experience in Fluorescence lifetime imaging Microscopy (FLIM) (Desirable)
- Programming and computational analysis skills (Desirable)
Job Description:
The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop novel microscopy platforms with SPAD detector arrays for fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy, emphasizing functional Imaging in three dimensions using a bespoke analysis environment. They will be responsible for further development of two microscopy systems, integrating new SPAD sensors, designing bespoke optics, and incorporating state-of-the-art detector technologies. The role involves coordinating with physics and biological collaborators, providing leadership to junior researchers, and delivering internationally competitive research. Additionally, the successful applicant will have opportunities to engage in complementary projects to further explore and grow their research interests and portfolio.
