Postdoctoral in Computational Mass Spectrometry: The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) to join our “eScience” team in Berlin-Steglitz. This position focuses on advancing computational methods for non-targeted metabolomics through machine learning and contributes to the development of an innovative algorithm called Fiora.

Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, data engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python or similar languages.
- Experience with machine learning techniques, especially graph neural networks.
- Knowledge of software libraries for data science (e.g., PyTorch, Pandas, Scikit-Learn).
- Experience analyzing tandem mass spectra is desirable but not required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and enhance machine learning models for applications in materials science and metabolomics.
- Use GPU optimization to create large-scale spectral simulations.
- Validate the Fiora algorithm against benchmark datasets.
- Supervise junior researchers and communicate results at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of researchers in a dynamic and innovative environment.
