Postdoctoral in Computational Neuroscience, University of Colorado, USA

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at USA, Ozbolat Laboratory at Penn State

Postdoctoral in Computational Neuroscience: The DiGregorio (University of Colorado School of Medicine) and Kilpatrick (University of Colorado Boulder) laboratories are seeking an expert in theoretical and computational neuroscience for a postdoctoral position. The research will focus on investigating the biological mechanism of neural population dynamics driving sensory-motor transformations in the brain using biologically inspired artificial neural networks.

Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Research Area: Computational Neuroscience

Location: University of Colorado School of Medicine (Denver) and University of Colorado Boulder (Boulder), Colorado, USA

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates should have a Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a related field, with experience in mathematical modeling of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and/or partial differential equations (PDEs).

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Computational Neuroscience

The postdoctoral fellow will work in a multidisciplinary team comprising cellular and circuit neurophysiologists. The project aims to explore how large-scale neural activity patterns are shaped by synaptic dynamics to optimize precise temporal associations required for motor actions’ fine-tuning (e.g., cerebellum) and performing Bayesian inference-like computations. The research will leverage biologically inspired artificial neural networks and cutting-edge data sets from population recordings using calcium, voltage, and neurotransmitter imaging, optogenetics, and high-density single-unit recordings using Neuropixels. Collaboration will extend to other systems neuroscience laboratories within the Department of Physiology and Biophysics (University of Colorado School of Medicine) and the Applied Mathematics department at the University of Colorado Boulder. The postdoc will be part of the Cerebellum and Motor Control group and collaborate with other researchers collecting neural and behavioral data on decision theory and working memory.
