Job Description:
The successful candidate will work in the dynamic and collaborative Franchino group on groundbreaking research combining metal and organocatalysis to enhance stereoselective synthesis of organic molecules. The project, funded by a prestigious UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, will entail designing and testing (chiral) organocatalysts to engage with common metal halide precatalysts, analyzing the mechanisms involved, and developing second-generation catalysts leveraging computational insights. The role includes opportunities for collaboration with external partners, such as a one-month research placement at the University of British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research projects under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Collaborate effectively with team members and train junior researchers.
- Manage research activities with minimal input and propose innovative solutions to research challenges.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and research outputs for publication.
- Participate in weekly meetings, workshops, and departmental seminars.
- Contribute to an inclusive and supportive research environment.
