Postdoctoral in Models for Materials: Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) seeks two highly motivated postdoctoral researchers for a Horizon Europe project, SIMU-LINGUA. The project aims to develop next-generation scientific foundation models (SciFMs) that merge knowledge graphs, multi-modal data, and GPU-accelerated machine learning for materials science.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Scientific Computing, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven ability to conduct high-quality academic research demonstrated by publications or research outputs.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Machine learning or deep learning (e.g., PyTorch)
  • Scientific data pipelines or large datasets
  • Knowledge graphs or structured data systems
  • GPU or distributed computing
  • Scientific machine learning or physics-informed ML
  • Familiarity with Linux and HPC environments is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Job Description:

You will contribute to the project’s core technical components in one of the following tracks:

  • Track A — Scientific Data & Knowledge Graphs:
  • Develop scalable scientific data infrastructures for large-scale model training, including materials ontologies and data pipelines.
  • Track B — GPU-Accelerated Scientific Foundation Models:
  • Design and train large-scale multi-modal foundation models and tools for training diagnostics and observability.

You will collaborate with diverse teams and have scientific ownership, contributing to publications and open-source software while shaping methodologies for scientific AI.
