Postdoctoral in Molecular and Cellular Botany: The Department of Molecular and Cellular Botany at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to join their team. Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular and Cellular Botany

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher (m/w/d) for a Duration of 3 Years with 39.83 Weekly Hours (TV-L E13)

Research Area:
The focal points of the department include the insertion pathways of tail-anchored membrane proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum of Arabidopsis thaliana. Emphasis is placed on the so-called GET pathway and potential alternative pathways, combining plant physiology and cell biology with a wide range of microscopy techniques and molecular biological methods.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Biology or equivalent natural science
  • PhD in plant physiology or a related discipline
  • Practical experience with molecular biological and biochemical methods
  • Practical experience working with Arabidopsis thaliana, including cultivation, transformation, and genotype/phenotype characterization
  • Excellent proficiency in both German and English, with strong communication and presentation skills in both languages
  • Experience in practical student training is desirable
  • Optional: Experience in acquiring third-party funding

Job Description:

  • Conducting general molecular biological and biochemical methods (e.g., PCR, cloning, protein purification and detection)
  • Utilizing cell biological techniques such as the use of fluorescence markers and their analysis using laser confocal and fluorescence microscopy
  • Independently documenting and responsibly evaluating data; participating in the writing of publications and the subsequent peer-review process
  • Acquiring third-party funding, at least for more experienced candidates
  • Teaching and training students in basic and laboratory internships (4 SWS)
