Postdoctoral in Superconducting Cavity Optomechanics: The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) is inviting applications for two talented and motivated postdoctoral researchers to join the Quantum Cavity Optomechanics (QCOM) group under the supervision of Professor Bradley Hauer. This role focuses on developing micro/mm-wave superconducting optomechanical devices and their associated measurement infrastructure, contributing to advancements in quantum technologies and fundamental research.

Research Area:

Quantum technology development, specifically focusing on superconducting circuits and optomechanical systems.


Eligibility/Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field (or near completion).
  • Previous research experience in one or more of the following:
  • Superconducting circuit design and fabrication
  • Superconducting device theory
  • Low-temperature physics
  • Nano/micro-fabrication
  • Materials characterization
  • Micro/mm-wave electronics
  • Quantum sensing
  • Expertise in related areas such as quantum information, mesoscopic physics, quantum optics, and atomic physics may also be considered.
  • Experience with cryogenic measurement systems, nanofabrication skills, and leadership is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.

Job Description:

The postdoctoral researchers will be responsible for:

  • Designing and simulating superconducting circuits.
  • Developing nano-fabrication processes.
  • Constructing low-noise cryogenic measurement chains.
  • Performing micro/mm-wave measurements.
  • Analyzing and interpreting experimental results.
  • Disseminating research through written publications and conference presentations.
  • Mentoring junior group members and supporting their projects.
